CobraScan
The new 16 pin EOBD adaptor that checks the ECU for fault codes and also provides RPM and Engine Temperature measurement during the MoT Emissions Test.
Simply plug the CobraScan into the vehicle's standard 16 pin EOBD socket and the unique Automatic ECU Protocol recognition system will provide a live reading of both RPM and Engine Temperature during the MoT Test without the need to identify the vehicle or engine model. In addition, a simple scan and delete routine is avaliable to search for any standard DTC (DiagnosticTrouble Code) stored in the vehicles ECU memory.
EOBD or European On Board Diagnosis is a standard form of vehicle diagnostics introduced in line with European Directive 98/69/EC to monitor and reduce emissions from cars. This means that through defined communication protocols the vehicle is able to send a comprehensive stream of data to external test equipment like fault code readers or exhaust analysers.
CobraScan supports the following communication
protocols:
- ISO 15765-4 (CAN)
- ISO 14230-4 (Keyword Protocol 2000)
- ISO 9141-2
- SAE J1850 PWM
- SAE J1850 VPW

Important !! The
CobraScan is able to monitor and record the engine speed, engine
temperature and any standard fault code stored in most modern vehicles
ECU memory. Not every vehicle manufactured after the year 2000 supports EOBD therefore communication might not be possible. This applies to petrol as well as diesel fuelled vehicles even though the 16 pin EOBD socket may be fitted to the vehicle.
